Set Men
![]() Men: What example do you set for the younger men in your family? They say in order for a boy to be a man, he's got to see a man. What are some of the things you do to set a good example? I'm financially responsible. Meaning I don't let my bills lapse, I don't let utilities get shut off, my cupboards are never bare, I don't live above my means, I budget for my needs, wants and desires, I save for the future, I'm never broke. I'm a good husband. I'm affectionate with my wife meaning we hold hands and tell each other we love each other. I don't flirt with other women in a way that leads them to think that I'm hitting on them, I'm respectful of women. I have discussions with my wife. If we ever disagree we don't rise our voices and I never call my wife or any other women for that matter out of their name. (You know what I'm talking about). I'm a gentleman. I encourage young men to achieve beyond their expectation. I try to connect with the younger generation. I give young men the benefit of the doubt. I tell young men the truth not to hurt them but the help them. I am accessible. I try not to be preachy. Sometimes it comes out that way. I challenge young men to use their minds. I don't cuss or use the "N" word. I live by a higher moral standard that I have imposed on myself. I don't do anything that would bring shame to myself or my family.. I could go on but in short I strive to be the best man I can be for as long as I can be.. |

Mens Jewelry Trends for Spring/Summer 2009
There are so many reasons why men choose to wear jewellery: A charm for the lucky gambler; dressing for a date or a night out clubbing; to personalise a mundane business look or to set oneself apart while on the beach, but what’s for sure is that men’s jewellery is no longer confined to the Harley Davison crowd because men’s jewellery products are now much more sophisticated and contemporary. Leading the way were men from the worlds of music, television, film and fashion, who in years past commissioned pieces from leading designers, but now with a wider range of men’s silver jewellery available from leading UK designers, the finest quality products are becoming accessible to non-celebrities. Extroverts like UK comedian and actor Russell Brand may wear several pendants and bracelets on each arm, but you don’t need to ‘bling-it-up’ as much as Russell to look stylish and cool. Even a single pendant or bracelet can add loads of character to your look ad what you choose to wear will tell people much more about your personality than you would imagine, without ever saying a word. Things have changed" says Stephen Webster. "The fear factor, the reverence and the rather staid formality have all but disappeared. Magazines now have fashion shoots featuring cheap H&M jeans worn with £5000 diamond rings. Having a diamond-studded accent to a watch or a piece of jewellery no longer marks a customer as a flashy, ostentatious type. It just makes a person look more…lively." So wearing the right piece and the right brand of jewellery is so important. Unlike clothes where a good quality pair of distressed jeans looks good no matter the brand or cost, the quality of jewellery materials and the manufacturing process makes all the more difference to the end look. Mens jewellery is much more about your personal preferences and a statement of self than some other fashion items and your options are plentiful. For example, men’s jewellery transgresses musical styles, where R&B star Jay-Z wears Stephen Webster belt buckles and dog tags while Heavy Metal acts like Ozzy Osbourne wear rings and pendants from the very same designer. Try getting them to wear the same brand of t-shirt! Top end men’s jewellery designers such as Stephen Webster, Shaun Leane and Vivienne Westwood are in the premier league, but together with a supporting number global designer brands, such as Links of London and Hugo Boss who have recently launched mens jewellery collections, the supply of men’s jewellery to the market is extensive. In addition, sales in the online market space for mens jewelry is also growing despite the global economic downturn facing everyone. In the UK Thorn Jewellery are leading the top end online jewellery proposition.. Bolstered in 2008 by publicity from the inaugural London jewellery week, the UK market is leading the way and is set to continue to grow from strength to strength into 2009 and there’s every reason to believe that superior design quality and craftsmanship will win over cheaper imported items seen on the high street.
